My name is Kathy. I am a seventh and eighth grade social studies teacher in Massachusetts. In seventh grade, my students study Ancient Civilizations while eighth graders are learning about Civics.
In addition to teaching, I am a wife and the mother of two young men. The oldest graduated from college and is now working as an associate producer to a local news station. My younger son has enlisted in the navy. In my spare time (Ha Ha, what spare time?) I enjoy reading, writing, photography and crossword puzzles. I love to travel and want to do more, maybe when my husband and I no longer have college tuition payments for the boys we will be able to see the world. Recently I have been channeling my inner Martha Stewart. I have been learning to sew, knit and crochet- though I have a long way to go before I have my own craft show!
My passion for teaching social studies blossomed when I was teaching fourth grade. I began by taking a class to learn more about the new fourth grade social studies curriculum. That was it, I was hooked. I continued to take various classes over the years in teaching history, literacy in the content areas and social studies. Eventually I was able to become a certified social studies teacher.
Please feel free to contact me. I love to connect with other teachers.
